One of my pair of budgies has flown away - what should I do to help the remaining one ?

It is the male one who has gone.

They have lived together from very young, for 2 1/2 years.
They were very close, preening and feeding each other.

Will the remaining one pine and suffer from the loss ?

Should I get another ( I know to keep it in a spare cage until they get used to each other ) ?
